Ghat Ke Balaji Temple is one of the heritage temples of Jaipur and set in idyllic surroundings. Its ownership rests with the Galta Peeth in Galtaji Temple, Jaipur.
Ghat Ke Balaji temple is located midway between Galtaji Temple and Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh near Ghat ki Guni. It’s merely fifteen to twenty minutes’ drive from the heart of Jaipur.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Even though the temple dates back to a few centuries, it has faded from the list of popular temples of Jaipur. While Khole Ke Hanumanji Temple has gained prominence over the years, many locals of the city have not heard of the Ghat Ke Balaji temple. Quite an irony!
Ghat Ke Balaji Temple was patronized by the Jaipur royalty for centuries. Many important royal ceremonies were held in this temple. It has a large following among the villages in the vicinity of Jaipur.
Ghat Ke Balaji temple is popular for Sawa Mani Prasads. What is Sawa Mani Prasad? It refers to offerings made in the Hanumanji temples. Sawa means one and a quarter, Mani or Mun refers to old Indian measurement called Maund & equals 37.32 Kg. Therefore Sawamani is equal to 46.65 Kg. A token quantity is first offered to the temple and the rest is usually distributed among the friends and family of the person making an offering.
Why people offer Sawamani Prasad? It is a local custom where if a devotee asks for a wish to be completed in the temple, upon completion of the same he arranges for Sawamani. Salasar Temple in Rajasthan is one of the temples that experiences the highest number of Sawamani Prasad.
Ghat Ke Balaji temple has an impressive architectural presence, which is in line with the temple built during its period. No other temple, dedicated to the Lord Hanuman in Jaipur can rival its grandeur & architecture. Although a fair amount of renovation has taken place over the years, the temple still maintains its original character. The paintings in the main sanctum are unique although they are in a need of urgent repair & attention. It is worth a visit if you are visiting Monkey Temple at Galtaji or Sisodia Rani Garden.

Hi there – being from Europe and having never been to Asia all of these pictures look very exotic to me. I bet it’s even more special when being there, in the temple. Interesting how detailed the pillars are. Must have taken quite a time to create them 🙂

Hi Ruta! Some of these temple are quite ornate and have lot of detailing while others have beautiful frescoes and paintings. Pictures can never replace the actual experience. like Europe, we too have some great architecture here. I think you should visit Jaipur, some day!

I had been there just once!! Nd fell in love with the place instantly…. I did get chance to trip there but didnt workout….hoping to get there soon… The palaces are just majestic there…. Jaipur was explored on the way to Delhi… I guess A seperate and complete trip to Jaipur needs to be explored soon..

In Ghat Ke Balagi Tample, Tuesday Morning mandir Pandit ji Mangla Darshan not done , So many people standing in outside the Temple for wating opens the Door of Temple, mey I request for Consern person Sh Suresh Mishra ji pls take action or neceracery arrangements of morning Darshan 5am on every Tuesday.
