How to avoid Pollen Allergy

While cutting down these trees is no permanent solution, for some who suffer from extreme bouts of pollen allergy it’s time to pack the bag for a month-long vacation! This might suit just a few! For those who can’t leave the town, the only recourse is to stay indoors, especially during the morning time and avoid parks; take preventive medicines. Some people suggest using an ayurvedic medicine Shadbindu Tel to tide over pollen allergy. This is not a proven method and should be done only under the guidance of a trained ayurvedic practitioner/ doctor. Modern medicine practitioners usually suggest a course of antihistamines and a stronger dose consisting of inhalers/steroids.

    1. In the end we all have to find some acceptable solution, it’s great that you have found solution with face mask. I’m not updated if surgical mask works in case of pollen allergy probably someone needs to try that. good idea! By the way.

    1. Alok, this tree is planted in huge numbers across the city. Every second person I meet is suffering from pollen allergy. Of course, this is just a personal experience. I guess everyone has to endure or resort to medicine.
Bangalore is notorious for allergy and cold. I have many friends and relatives in Bangalore who constantly complain about it.

      1. It is… Bangalore’s infrastructure hasn’t kept pace with growing traffic and it is surely a big menace. NCR on the other hand has developed very well. šŸ™‚

  1. Ugh I dread allergy season. Swollen red eyes, congestion, and runny nose, sneezing and coughing. Misery. When I lived in Michigan, my allergies were the worst during the fall. Spring was the worst for me in North Carolina and so far seem to be pretty bad here in Germany during the spring too. ugh

    1. Only a few of us have allergies. But only those who do really know what it is all about. I. I’m sorry to hear that even moving to continental Europe didn’t help you with it. Have you tried sorting it out with a test to confirm what triggers it?

  2. Arv, I had no idea of this tree causing pollen allergy. I have seen this tree in my locality yet was ignorant that it is one of the primary cause of pollen allergy. As you wrote about some remedies, I would like to know if wearing a pollution mask helps in such cases.

    1. I was under impression that this tree is common in certain areas in North India. You can find it in Pune too? well, that’s news for me.

To be honest, Sarmistha, the remedy differs from one person to another as does the severity of allergy. Probably, you can give it a try. Do keep me posted if it is effective.
