Sharad Purnima In Jaipur | Full Moon

Sharad Purnima is an important day in the Hindu religion/ Hindu calendar.  It is marked by a full moon night. Sharad Purnima signifies the end of monsoon season since the month of Ashwin as per the Hindu calendar also ends on this day.  Kartik month follows Ashwin. The next full moon night will be on Kartik Purnima, which holds much more significance in the Hindu religion than the Sharad Purnima. The famous  Pushkar Fair is held during the Kartik Purnimawhenthousands of people take a holy dip in Pushkar lake on this day. Here are three pictures of Sharad Purnima in Jaipur with a full moon.

    1. Yes..The phenomenon is called perigree. This year Moon will be closest to Earth on 16th October. Also termed as “supermoon”.
      Incidentally, Moon will be farthest from Earth on 31st October; called Apogee!

      1. The transition of the moon…the crescents…the full moon…the hiding behind the clouds…all can be associated with the moods and stages love goes through…possibly due to that? 😊

      2. You need to use the right technique. Although I have shot Moon -handheld, these were captured using Tripod. I experimented quite a bit with many settings.

  17. I have yet to succeed in capturing the moon to my satisfaction. It’s one of my favourite focal points of nature and my vision simply gravitates towards it. No two nights are really the same, and its constant hide and seek with the clouds and darkness never ceases to fascinate. I particularly liked the second picture. 🙂
