Life is all about experiences. But there are some exceptions too. In a hindsight, you would rather not experience certain things because it turns out to be another way around. If you have followed my blog you would have read a couple of posts on sunrises and sunsets in Jaipur. Being a skywatcher and nature lover, I feel every sunset and sunrise is unique. In one of my blog on the most popular sunrise points in Jaipur, I have mentioned that even though Nahargarh Sunrise point is extremely popular, I prefer giving it a miss. Let me share my experience of a sunrise at Nahargarh Fortin this blog.

It was one of a crisp Sunday morning of February when I started from Kanak Ghati at 5.30 AM. Despite being dark there were a couple of morning walkers on this road which ends at Nahargarh Fort. Vehicular traffic was quite low but I knew in a half hour this road will be buzzing with speeding cars and motorcycles, all heading towards Nahargarh Fort. By the time I reached the sunrise point, it was 5.50 AM. Sharing the sky and the view of the city in this picture.

I found young lads sitting here waiting for the sun to come up with loud music playing through the portable speaker.

In a couple of minutes, a large crowd congregated here. Howling, shouting, loud music playing from the car is all that I experienced in this time-frame. This picture captures the mood of Nahargarh Fort sunrise point at 6.00 AM. Disappointed, I decided to return back.

I’m sure everyone has their own idea of watching & enjoying a sunrise but certainly, this is not mine.

For me, sunrise is a spiritual experience. And this alone is a motivation for me to get up so early on weekends. I have been lucky enough to find new and amazing sunrise points in Jaipur which guarantees quietude.
I’m sharing a couple of sunrise pictures from various locations in and around Jaipur. In my opinion, Nahargarh Fort is not the best sunrise point in Jaipur; It certainly is the most popular one.

A couple of them are a great place for doing yoga because of tranquility and stunning views. On the contrary, Nahargarh Fort guarantees a prolific sunrise experience. Life is about making choices and I’m sure why I’m not heading for Nahargarh Fort sunrise.

I am with you. I don’t like too much crowd itself…that gurantees quietude (mostly).
Btw, people are more mannered in the West. They anyway don’t do silly things at that time of the hour.

You are right, Alok. I have experienced that myself. I guess that happens when you ” copy and paste”. It’s unfortunate that people do certain things to look cool on social media. Playing loud Bollywood music or clicking selfie to look cool on social media, all sounds so immature in this context. Had it been a soulful music, it would have been different. Thankfully, I have a choice.

Do you love sunrises? Let me know next time you are in Jaipur, will suggest you a couple of places.

Oh, I understand entirely how you feel, Arv. And, unfortunately, I don’t think we’re any better in the west. Nothing worse than someone playing loud music, well, anywhere outdoors. Utterly thoughtless and selfish.

Well, I guess there’s no point in objecting to what others are doing since they have equal rights. it’s a public place, after all! I have found some great alternatives. Do you get an opportunity to watch the sunrises in UK, Mick? 🙂

I do sometimes, Arv. Depending on the time of year, I occasionally walk through a lovely forested area on my way to work as the sun is coming up. And if I’m away anywhere nice, I’ll certainly try to.

I can understand this coming from someone who walked for miles in mountains… in places like Oman and Nepal! That’s something not everyone can understand based on my experience. People often ask me why I hike in Himalayas for days with no mobile connection? Frankly, there is no way it can be explained! Something can only be experienced and cherished.

Definitely. I would be tempted to answer that the lack of the mobile connection is just another reason to go there!

You are so right, Arv! Observing a sunrise is a spiritual experience. A sunrise reminds you of the dawn of creation. There is no place for a noisy crowd there. I can understand and share your feelings about the negative impact unruly behaviour coupled with the sound of blaring music can have on the tranquillity you are seeking.

I’m glad you can relate to this. It would have been better if it was soulful music. Even in India, we had a tradition of playing morning ragas using traditional instruments but I guess not many people like that especially among the new generation. One of the fellow bloggers suggested listening to Usha Suktam from the ancient Indian Veda. I’m not sure if you are aware of Vedas. But there is an Aryan connection here. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here.

Beautiful, beautiful photos which, of course, would be even lovelier if not for the growing crowd!
I agree, sunrise is a spiritual experience, the birth of a new day, a chance to begin again if necessary.

Great photos! I am like you, sunrises and sunsets are best enjoyed in the quiet. Listening to loud music would certainly kill the mood.

Happy to connect with you. I guess some people are unable to distinguish between different time slots and what it represents. Tranquility is what dawn is all about. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Yogi! 🙂

I agree with you arv…sunrise breathes serenity and it is a blessing to receive it in a tranquil surroundings. There is a time for loud music and in a public place, it is our duty to respect the rights of others. As usual, your shots are perfect… Did you wait for the cross to disperse to take them?

I think morning is a time for soulful music to give it your day a good start. But even without that it’s fine. Sometimes you need to appreciate the beauty of nature and solitude too. I captured these pictures with my mobile phone. These sunrise pictures are from other locations. There is no sunrise picture from Nahargarh. I left before the sunrise because it wasn’t worth waiting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have you also encountered something similar?

As I have shared my thoughts earlier, I have made very few efforts to watch sunrise…and each time it was worth it, with people around calmly watching it. Though it was crowded at the top of Burj Khalifa and people were vying with each other to click selfies with the rising sun, it was a nice experience.
In this part of the world, sunrise is a treat everyday if you go for a morning walk. Every morning the skyline is different to welcome the sun.

It is interesting to hear of your experience watching the sunrise at Nahargarh Fort. Sorry to hear that it was a bit disappointing, but it sound like a bit of a ruckus going on and that dampened the experience. As you touched upon, for some a sunrise is just about the views. But I suppose for you and for others, a good sunrise (or sunset) is one that is an all round sensory experience and one where you don’t feel rushed and you can enjoy your surrounds. That is what I hope whenever I go and see a sunrise or sunset.

Mabel, I do feel that some experiences are best enjoyed in a certain manner. Sunrise or sunset is spiritual in nature. I do feel that those playing loud music or experiencing a sunrise for posting it on SM, will someday realize the real significance of it. I remember we discussed on watching sunsets in one the post. You mentioned that sunrise doesn’t work for you!

Very well said that a sunrise or sunset is spritual in nature. It happens every day without fail – so much certainty there and with different shades of colour each day. Sunrises really don’t work for me…and I think I will stick with chasing sunsets 😀

Absolutely, each sunset and sunrise is different and unique. Stick with whatever works for you, Mabel. In the end it’s all about what works and what keeps us happy. I’ll look forward to your sunset pictures. 😃

I love sunrises & sunsets – and believe each one is unique. I agree that experiencing them in quiet reverie is preferred, but I do thank you for sharing. Sometimes we think the world is perfect in ‘blog-land’, but it is occasionally nice to see the real world too, not just the edited versions….Thank you for sharing 😄

I’m happy you enjoy both sunrise and sunsets. If you are pointing to the “perfect” travel stories being posted by many bloggers, I prefer to make my own path. Yes, the world is not perfect…which is a fact. It’s only in movies that everything falls into a place. Thanks for checking it out. Do you post sunrise and sunset pictures on your blog?
