About JaipurThruMyLens

Hi! I’m a blogger based in Jaipur. JaipurThruMyLens is a blog about Jaipur, best known around the world as “The Pink City”. Jaipur ranks high as a travel destination. My blog, JaipurThruMyLens showcases the city with a different perspective for travelers and locals.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to travel and visit many other cities in India and abroad. Based on my travel experiences, Jaipur is truly unique in comparison to all other cities. Jaipur encompasses a rich & unique culture that is hard to find in other cities. It has a very distinct flavour & feel, which draws visitors again and again to the Pink City. Festivals like Holi, Diwali, Janmashtami, Teej, Dussehra, etc are celebrated with zest & fervor. The rich monumental legacy is certainly one of its kind with a long list including Amer Fort, Jal Mahal, Nahargarh Fort, and Hawa Mahal to name a few.

I started exploring Jaipur in 2014 even though I grew up in the Pink City. In 2015, I started this blog on Jaipur, JaipurThruMyLens, to share pictures of the city with the rest of the world based on my exploration. Initially, the blog was only meant to be a photo-blog with pictures of Jaipur, and over time, the idea changed. Readers and followers of the JaipurThruMyLens blog requested that I share more about Jaipur and not just pictures. Many readers mentioned they possibly would not be able to travel to Jaipur but the blog was a great way to see thia beautiful city, virtually. Some readers wanted me to share my perspective on popular places. Essentially, they wanted authentic information since the internet is full of conflicting ones. JaipurThruMyLens has become quite popular because of its unique content and perspective on Jaipur. The topics covered in this blog are quite varied and in-depth.

The idea of starting a blog about Jaipur was completely different than what it is today. I’m happy that the JaipurThruMyLens blog has helped travelers visiting Jaipur explore the pink city in a meaningful way; the blog has become a unique Jaipur centric blog. Many researchers have shared that JaipurThruMyLens is a great resource for their research.

Some followers suggested that the blog should evolve with time. By this, they meant that JaipurThruMyLens should also share information through social media, especially Instagram. While I’m on Instagram – @arv_jpr it does not replace the blog JaipurThruMyLens. I’m only sharing Jaipur pictures on Instagram, at the moment.

I curate bespoke heritage Jaipur walking tours & theme based experiential tours in Jaipur. Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to organise many cycling and walking tours in Jaipur in collaboration with a Jaipur based NGO. If you wish to know more about Jaipur walking tours, you can connect with me via Instagram https://www.instagram.com/arv_jpr/

If you enjoy reading JaipurThruMyLens or have gained information for travel or research, kindly leave a comment to let me know. It helps to know that the blog is helping travelers and researchers. This way I can share more about Jaipur and help anyone seeking information about Jaipur. If there are aspects you find missing and would like me to share information about, do share.

There is so much to Jaipur that any combination of 26 letters will not be able to cover it all. The Internet, guidebooks, and Jaipur travel blogs are replete with information on Jaipur, most of which is quite a cliche.

  1. Jaipur became known as “The Pink City” when, in 1876, Maharaja Ram Singh had most of the buildings painted pink—the color of hospitality—in preparation for a visit by Britain’s Queen Victoria. Today, the city is known for its bazaars, forts, temples, palaces, and wildlife sanctuaries.

  2. Reliving Jaipur through your lens , Our Pink City as captured by you & its story it reminds me of every lane and even architectural structure inspiring us being an interior designer from jaipur with very small details like how motifs been used in the architecture & interior details, a balance of colours with terracotta canvas – we at Kamal Kavita Interiors believe our go to interior design book is our Pink City even what we call Pinterest of Interior design and architecture to us is our city of jaipur

Just to add a story we were stuck in a design where in we were finding it difficult to explain client how terracotta and green go hand in hand in real not in 3d images, client was from NRI for his house which were designing for his OTS (open to sky area) in middle section of the house we suggested him a palace of terracotta and green – so we invited client to visit us in jaipur and we took him to Chaura rasta near Tripolia bazar chauraha at around 8 pm in night and we didn’t tell him what was the purpose behind taking him to that place specifically to that chauraha of Chaura rasta jaipur and trust us those jharokha painted in green of old library in that are with terracotta canvas was stealing the show of the night which in turn on next day came to us as yes for the color ideology and he in fact mentioned I understood the travel itinerary Kamal & Kavita thanks you for this ideology

thanks for your blog on Jaipur architecture we are able to re cherish all those beautiful design stories of ours

    Thanks

    1. Thank you for sharing this information. I agree Jaipur is unique. You inviting your client to the old city must have created quite an impact where he could see for himself.
