The World Can Wait!

I participated in a photo walk here in Jaipur a few months ago. You can read more about it in this post Photo walk in Jaipur/ Street Photography – Faceless Frames ” Hands

As I was heading back after this photo walk, I saw this person in a deep sleep at one of the Gokhas of a heritage building which now a government-run library in Jaipur. This is one of the first libraries of Jaipur.

A beautiful amalgamation of European and Rajput architecture which houses a government library in this heritage building.

Gokhas can be found in all old buildings in Rajasthan especially Havelis. These are important architectural elements of haveli architecture and are arched sit-outs on either side of the entrance. These were essentially designed as a social space. The residents of Haveli used to sit here so they could chit-chat with the known passerby.

Here are two close-ups of the above picture in monochrome.

This reminded me of a quote:

“What hath night to do with sleep?” – John Milton.

I’m sure everything in the world can wait for a good sleep. What do you think?

    1. Happy to know you liked this picture, Marcus. I’m not into the street photography and I have found enough inspiration and suggestion from your posts. So let me thank you, Marcus! 🙂

    1. Well said. Good sleep is an important body requirement for healthy functioning. Yes, this person was in deep sleep. even the sound of shutter click didn’t wake him up. Thanks for sharing your views here. 😊

  1. Sometimes I think I could do with a good sleep like that, Arv, but it’s too cold. An opportunistic capture but sometimes they are the best. Got a photowalk myself around Liverpool in December so I know I won’t be seeing anyone sleeping

    1. Mike, out here temperature rarely dips beyond 3-5 c in winters. For us that’s cold but from your perspective its pleasant. No snow here.
I agree these are chance captures. Quite like fishing…. you never know what you are going to catch today! Personally, I don’t like much of photo walks with the group for variety of reasons. Sometimes, its good… though. .. networking, learning new style or techniques..
Will look forward to seeing your pictures from that photo-walk, Mike.
