The rock pigeon is one of the most common birds found in Jaipur. Finding large flocks of pigeon is not difficult especially in front of Albert Hall, City Palace, and Amer Maota. A large number of people visit these spots to feed grains to pigeons. Its a daily ritual for some people. Most of them are driven by the motive of earning good karma.
Rock pigeons to a large extent co-exist with human settlements, unlike many other birds which are not dependent on the human population.
Here is a picture of the pair of pigeons clicked at Shikaar Odhi in Jhalana Leopard Safari in Jhalana forest, Jaipur. They were perched on a dilapidated building which was erstwhile hunting lodge. Looks like they were out on a picnic!
