What are the reasons for such a high demand for an elephant ride in Jaipur? One of the reasons for the big demand for elephant rides in Jaipur is the fact that elephants are found only in the Asian and African continents. There are very few places where one can avail an elephant ride. Jaipur is one such place. Elephant rides in Jaipur are available in very few places, Amer Fort is the easiest of all. The above picture was captured when one such elephant was on its way to the boarding point after dropping the tourist at Jaleb Chowk in Amer Palace. Did you notice the watch tower of the Great Wall of Amer Fort? It is not uncommon to find hoards of tourists lined up for the elephant ride at the elephant stand at Amer Palace during the peak tourist season.

The elephant ride in Jaipur from the base of Amer Fort and Palace to the Jaleb Chowk courtyard in Amer Palace is the most sought-after experience among tourists. The charge for the elephant ride in Jaipur is Rs 1100 for two people and the timings are 7.30 AM to 11 AM.
The Ethical Treatment of Elephants in Amer Fort
Time and again, the question of ethical treatment of elephants at Amer Fort has been raised. Many instances of elephants behaving irrationally have raised this question. PETA has been advocating for a complete ban on elephant rides in Amer. Unfortunately, this is far from reality. Personally, I’m against animal rides and I don’t undertake one.
