A Soft Winter Sunrise In Jaipur At Mansagar Lake

The temperature across the world has taken a nosedive, with many countries receiving a good amount of snow this time around. It is no different here in Jaipur, barring the snow part! We don’t get snow here, ever! I’m sharing a picture of the soft winter sun in Jaipur at Mansagar Lake. Posted for the Skywatch Friday.

Jal Mahal or Mansagar Lake is one of the best places to watch the sunrise in Jaipur. It is not far from the historic old part of Jaipur- the walled city area. Jal Mahal is the biggest natural water body in the city. There are a few more lakes near Jaipur, like Barkheda and Chandlai but reaching them requires at least a 45 minutes drive.

    1. Thank you Alexandra! Indeed framing and blue tint are two important aspects of this picture. Out here, even in winters we have plenty of sunshine. Quite like the summer season of the northern Europe 🙂

  12. Arv this sunrise picture is one of my favorites! I love how the mountains cast a shadow on the water, the sun is soft looking, the water looks like glass, the trees framing the picture, and the color blue is everywhere!! 🙂 It’s lovely! Hope you’re having a great weekend so far 🙂

    1. Jennifer, there’s certain mysticism about the setting in this picture as detailed by you. Frankly, it’s a popular tourist spot too known popularly as jalmahal or water palace. You can spot it in extreme right side -only a shadow though. The idea was to see it in a new perspective. 🙂

  14. Ah, so it doesn’t snow there in Jaipur but it is still cold. Hope it is still not uncomfortably cold to go out and the weather doesn’t hurt your equipment. It is summer here in Australia and I couldn’t be happier. I have missed this warm weather so much, and to me, the warmer, the better and the happier I am. I was out taking photos the other day and my camera heated up, though. Not good, lol.

    Very good photography as usual, Arv. But I didn’t need to say that as you already know it 😉 As 2travellingsisters said, it does look romantic. I also like how the sun seems to look like a moon and the overall nighttime composition it exudes. Brilliantly done.

    1. The strong phase of winter rarely lasts more than 10-15 days. Other than this, the winters are quite mild from the European perspective since it’s akin to European summers! The night temperature is usually between 8-13 C. So don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll quite like the weather here. We Asians generally are predisposed to warm weather and so is our culture.
      Thank You for appreciating Mabel.I rarely point my camera towards Sun except around sunrise when the Sun is quite soft. You said it well, that this resembles Moon, in many ways! 🙂

      1. You really do have warm winters. I am jealous. Tropical weather is my favourite weather and unfortunately winters here in Melbourne are dry and frigid. I’m presuming winters in Jaipur are more humid 🙂

        Haha, maybe you should point the camera more at the sun, Arv. Then again, I read again it can damage the insides of the camera.

      2. Well, we have dry winters here too! That’s exactly the reason why I don’t aim at the Sun!! I am not taking any chances by infuriating the “Sun” god! However, in winters Sun is little sleepy…so that is an exception! 😉

      4. You’ll find people flocking to the public parks in winters, here in Jaipur to get some warm sunshine. Quite akin to people getting some sun on beaches there! 🙂
