Morning Thoughts At Sunrise

I often wonder why I get to see more sunset pictures than sunrise on blogs, Instagram, and Facebook. Is it too hard to get up in the morning? During the last few years, I could manage to see many spectacular sunrises. I have shared some sunrises in Jaipur in the form of pictures on the blog and on Instagram as well. I’m sure some of you must be able to witness either sunrise or sunset. Does sunset or sunrise trigger some thoughts in your mind? I’m sharing morning thoughts from one such occasion during a sunrise here in Jaipur along with pictures.

This sunrise reminded me of a famous quote on the morning.

“Turn your face to the sun

and the shadow falls behind you”

Posting this for Friday Skywatch.

On this very day, I came across many groups of morning walkers who start when it is still dark much before the sunrise. They became friends due to morning walk ritual; sticking to the schedule for years. Probably they find morning walk an opportunity to meet, discuss, and laugh with friends. I don’t know what is their “mojo”? Morning walk? Friends? Or both?  What do you think? Do you also go for a morning walk?

  1. Welcome to Thursday Tree love..My friend (incidentally she is also from Jaipur) believes that one should never click sunset as it is inauspicious..She feels one should ONLY click sunrise which marks the beginning of a day..BTW lovely clicks..Hope to see more such images in future

    1. Thanks Balaka! well this is not the first one on Thursday Tree Love. I have posted earlier too. Incidentally, I only get opportunity to click sunrise. Clicking sunrise does involve lot more efforts because you just can’t get such shots in urban landscape (with unwanted concrete structures all around). You can find lot more pictures on this blog which I have posted earlier. will provide you with a link. I also post on Instagram.

  2. I like the way you included a branch as a frame to your most spectacular sunrise photo. For sunrise signifies not only a new day, a new beginning, a new opportunity, but also the creation of our planet earth. Thank you, arv!

    1. I feel the inclusion of tree branch signifies connection with mother Earth. You are absolutely right with 3 point? I enjoy your Wednesday posts. You live in beautiful surroundings. Do you also click sunrise or sunset pictures?

  3. What you pointed out about overdose of sunset shots, I happen to have noticed the same. And woah makes much sense now, people can’t wake up early including myself if it isn’t required of me but I aspire to become a morning person again someday! Although I have seen sunrises, they are magical moments telling you that you’re ahead of the world, so rise and shine with nature!
Thank you for these beautiful shots, they reminded me of the same feeling!

    1. I guess so. Especially on weekends. That’s when I wake up earlier than usual. While I do think that even sunset is magical but something is really nice about sunrise. I love the atmosphere of morning.
Do you love capturing nature? BTW….by what name should I address you?

    1. When I see your sky pictures Nicole, I ask myself why I never get to see such amazing sky? Your pictures are breathtaking.
Since you hike, I’m sure it provides good opportunity to witness great sky. Isn’t it true?

    1. Ha ha! I know getting out of a warm blanket is always a tug of war between your mind and body. Well, I don’t have a choice so I know what to choose, Vicky!
I guess in middle East it’s never too cold to get in that situation?

      1. In the Middle East sunrise is easy as it never gets so cold but at the moment I’m in Cyprus and I feel the sunrise temperatures during the winter…I don’t think I’d manage in the Uk now during their winters, I’d never ever see sunrise there!!!!

      2. Well, a fellow blogger and photographer Mike from Wales just commented something similar. You guys are best judge! Are in Cyprus on holiday? or a long haul?

      3. Oh, I live between Cyprus and the Middle East now, Cyprus has been my home since 1984 and I moved to Dubai on a work opportunity.. now my work has finished and I’m of an age where I would prefer to try not to work! So, I’m trying, my other half remains in Dubai, so I’m currently enjoying the best of both my worlds….

      4. Hmmm. Cyprus does sound interesting. I’m not sure about Dubai though. It’s okay to not work, there are no written rules. The bottom line is that we have to be happy with what we are doing. I have heard that there are some interesting hiking trails in Cyprus. And what brought you to Cyprus?

  4. Our weather is so unpredictable that it is often not worth getting up for a sunrise, because you don’t know what you will get. With the sunset you can see it developing and make the decision whether to go out or not. That’s my take on it Arv.

    1. Mike, I can understand that. Although I have heard about continental Europe’s ever changing weather, but certainly not about the UK. I’m sure if you are not venturing out, then you have weighed it thoroughly. A photographer will never leave any opportunity. Wise decision. Appreciate your sharing of thought on this, Mike. Thank you. 🙂

    1. I love that. I have read in your post as well. I think the whole atmosphere during sunrise is different and sunset just can’t match it. As for sharpness, I guess you are right. I always love your nature shots. 😃

  5. I know I have said this before…I have seen sunrises through the windshield of my car, many times, in winters but have never made an effort to watch it when it could have been spectacular except twice and I have shared those thoughts too at my blog.
I have been an early riser all my life out of compulsions 🙂 and here in California, sunrises are amazing everyday, without any effort. I must share my pics of sunrise once again, this time the ones I have taken here. 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration arv!

    1. I have seen few pictures that you have posted of sunrise/sunset. I feel that sunrise is a very potent experience that you can gift yourself. It’s perfectly fine not to post it and yet continue to enjoy it. But when you share it does make it easy for others to enjoy some part of it as well. I’m happy that you have opportunity because if you decide to enjoy one it is worth the effort. Would love to see California sunrises. I’m glad that this post inspired you to share sunrise from your part of the world. 😃

      1. I know what you mean. With so much concrete around us, it’s natural that we look forward to capture the sun in a natural setting. Do you get any such opportunities? I’m sure beach is the most easiest and closest one.

      2. I get it. I didn’t realize that Mumbai beaches is where you get to witness beautiful sunsets! I’m sure you must have enjoyed many sunsets in your city, Somali. 🙂

  6. Sunrise is such a beautiful fresh start of the day- even the air smells fresh and crisp, right? Loved your photos of the walkers and the sunrise itself!
walking is more fun when we know we are going to see our friends, in my opinion 🙂

    1. Absolutely. There’s something great about morning. The whole setting….
I have seen group of friends in park as well. And they are regular in their walks. Meeting friends is a big draw for every one. Do you also undertake morning walk Sandhya?

      1. wow! That’s good to hear. I have never heard Usha Sukta before but since you mentioned it, I heard it for the first time. I’m thinking it will be a good thing to do when I’m out to watch the sunrise. Anything to recommend?
