I have posted a couple of pictures from Jaipur street over the last few months. Even though I was never into street photography for the reasons I mentioned in 11 Seconds, my views seem to have changed as I went around for street life photography. I will talk about it in detail in my upcoming post.

I am sharing this picture from my street photography walk in Jaipur.

I found his expression curious. Why? Because his eyes convey anger whereas his face suggests he is astonished. What do you think?
One of the important aspects of street photography is being candid. The moment someone knows that you are clicking, the expressions change. Photographers and people have different approaches & thoughts towards street photography though.

This young man looks rather angry and disgruntled. Immediately we wonder about the possible cause. That very moment we begin to connect. I guess this could be the reason for street photography.

Probably true. I’m fairly new to this game. What I like about it is candid shots.

It seems to convey anger to me. Anyway, better leave it to the interpretation of the audience.

I guess this man is very frustrated from what he heard on his cell phone or he is looking at a scene that may arise anger within him.

Quite possible. Sometimes deciphering facial expressions can be complex. I will go with the opinion of an expert street photographer like you 🙂

Thank you so much for joining us for #ww this week, Arvind! I like the way you captured the man’s expression. I particularly like the angle with which you shot his face. Perhaps he is irritated with something…or exasperated with someone! Who knows better than him. I like street photography because it captures real life, and nothing is rehearsed in it. What you see is what you get. Someday I’d like to work on a series on Bangalore streets. One of my many plans for this year. 🙂

Esha, I don’t plan my clicks. The beauty of street photography is that you can’t plan. I don’t plan my photo walks, it is important to be more flexible and let the creativity flow. There have been times when I explored and came back without clicking a single shot. As I mentioned that I was not into street photography but with the passage of time, I had many realizations. Will share that with you, someday!
I agree that we cannot say with certainty as to what was working inside his mind. Happy to know that street photography is on your mind. Is there anything specific you want to click?

Possibly, Tracy. It’s difficult to say what caused his reaction. Timing is important in Street photography. 😊

Interesting how one photo can be interpreted in so many ways! Different angles and different perspectives, which I guess is the art of capturing that perfect street photo. Great job Arv 😉

A lens, once pointed at one who is aware, brings its own filter, but the candid shots are the ‘real’ ones, the ‘no filter’ photographs.
He does look like he’s sneering!

Well captured and a great shot. I love seeing street photography, although never take any myself. I think I am too self conscious about it. I agree with you about his expression, I wonder what he is seeing..

I was apprehensive about it as well. But my experience over the last few months has been positive. As for his expressions, I guess that will remain a mystery. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Kerry.

The expression of this man is indeed confusing! Did he notice that you were clicking his picture? Probably that’s why his scowl seems vague. 🙂

No. He was not aware. This was a candid photo walk.
