“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.” Rabindranath Tagore
It was Sunday evening when I clicked this picture at Hotel Clarks Amer Jaipur during my visit to The Farmers Market. I noticed the beautiful sunset sky when I was about to leave the venue in the side view mirror of the car. I decided to capture it on my smartphone. It is not frequently we witness clouds during the sunset in Jaipur sky. But when we do, expect some vivid sky colors.

I haven’t shared a picture of either the sunset or sunrise during the last five months on Jaipurthrumylens. Many readers will be able to recall how Skywatch Friday was a recurrent feature on this Jaipur blog; I would share pictures of sunrise and sunset every week. I would love to hear your opinion on this.

Posting this for Friday Skywatch and Thursday Tree Love

Always good to see pictures of sunrise or sunset, Arv.

I can only agree with you Mick. I share the same thought. I’m sure you must have seen many stunning sunsets and sunrises during your recent English countryside walk. Did you click many pictures?

Quite a few, but none of the sunrises or sunsets! Mind you, sunrise is at 4.50 a.m. at the moment…

oh! In summer season, the sunrise takes place around 5.20-5.30 in this part of the world. I guess you must have experienced it when you were in India. The sunset in your country is quite late; it never beyond 7.30-7.40 PM in summer.

The advantages / disadvantages of latitude, I suppose. We get long days in summer, but very short ones in winter.

I know. We all have our own share of these. Thanks for the inputs. 😊

I’m glad you liked it, Marcus. I’m sure a DSLR or Mirrorless would have captured this much better with all the creative controls. Even though I do have option of pro mode on phone but I always choose to click picture in default setting. What about you? Do you use pro mode on your smartphone?

No, always default!

I remember well your sunset photos of he past. You even climbed a mountain near Jaipur before dawn to capture the sunrise. This photo really shines with its brilliant colours. Greetings from Canada!

I hear you; I am sleeping when the sun rises now and (in all honesty) too tired hwen the sun sets to go outside to catch the sunset. But now the days are getting shorter (alas) and soon it will be easier for me. It would be nice for you to join up with Skywatch again; I’ve posted enough non sunrise and sunset pictures.

Beautiful shot, Arvind! Impromptu captures are the best, I say! You better get back to posting for Skywatch again. I’m sure you’ll have loads of pics to share from recent times. I’ve posted for the second time for Skywatch after resuming last week and it feels very good.

Esha, I guess you are an inspiration when it comes to capturing the skies.
I haven’t been capturing much of skies, lately. I don’t know the reasons. Maybe I’m not inspired enough or probably, a break is what is needed. I have so many pictures of sunset and sunrise which I captured on camera and they have never been posted. I guess someday, I will be able to post them.
You should be regular with your sky pictures, afterall you are the skygirl! Isn’t it so?

Haha…I better live upto my name, right? Yes, have resolved to post more regularly from now on when life gives that little window of opportunity every few days. I too have loads of sky shots that are yet to be uploaded…question is when! I think photography is just a healthy way to divert our minds away from our daily concerns to something slightly removed, something that works like a stress-buster to our busy minds. In that sense, everybody will find some incentive to do skywatching. Btw, I am going to look forward to those pictures that are still lying in your folders. Please do share them sometime. 🙂

I can understand, Esha. I guess not everyone looks at the sky the way some of us do. So it is just another sunrise or sunset for them. Unless they change their perspective it will be hard to realize its value.
Let’s see how I can best share with you. It is hard to share them in blog because it requires lots of work. Who knows better than you, the skygirl? 🙂

Agree, Arvind. Not everyone looks at the sky. And, not everyone looks at the sky as we do. And that CAN be a big difference in how some people are wired. I can see how sharing in the blog can be challenging. Just see if you can post on Insta and put the insta picture as a photo post on the blog, that might work, no? Well, I’m sure you don’t need ideas from anyone, still thought of suggesting you one. 🙂

Esha, thanks for all the ideas. Appreciate that. The challenge of posting on the blog is a bit different. For me, posting merely pictures don’t work. I need words too. Creating a whole post needs idea and time. I will try post them on IG. I have been doing that every once in a while.
I agree not everyone is tuned in the same way. Appreciate all the inputs and this conversation. 🙂

I’m Skendha. Keen to see the farmers market now. Do you have any recommendations for shopping in Jaipur? Silver jewellery and block prints? I’m familiar with Bapu Bazar and Johari Bazar but if you have any specific recommendations, I would be grateful.
Thanks!

Skenda, These two bazaars cater to mass market. If you want better quality there are outlets which are located in different areas. I can recommend them based on what item you need in block print. These outlets have different and better designs. Where are you based?
