Best Coffee Cafés In Jaipur For Coffee Lovers

In one of my earlier blogs on Jaipur, I mentioned tea is a popular beverage in Jaipur. Over the years, coffee is the preferred choice among young people, resulting in the opening of new coffee shops in Jaipur. Jaipur Cafés run in three digits, but only a few serve good coffee. After exploring many new cafés, here are the best coffee shops & cafes in Jaipur. The hallmark of the best coffee cafe is having its own roasting facility & sourcing the best coffee beans; four of the coffee cafes listed below have this facility. Few cafes are picky about the origin of coffee beans or are able to procure them owing to logistic or financial reasons. Here are the best coffee places in Jaipur.

The best Cafes For Coffee In Jaipur

Here is the list of the cafes serving the best coffee in Jaipur.

  • Curious Life Coffee Roasters

Curious Life is one of the first cafés in Jaipur to offer single-origin coffee; it has an in-house roasting facility for coffee beans and provides its customers with many brewing options. Many people are of the opinion that Curious Life Coffe Roasters serves the best coffee in Jaipur. One of the reasons why Curious Life serves the best coffee is because the owner, Neeraj Sheoran is an ardent coffee lover and a perfectionist. Can it be because he has served in the army for many years in Africa? You have to uncover it yourself!

I wrote about Curious Life in 2015, you can read this here Curious Life Coffee Roasters | Best place for coffee in Jaipur? They have opened a considerably bigger outlet in C-Scheme, which is packed with coffee lovers. If you are visiting Curious Life during the weekend, expect a long waiting period. In my opinion, their Vietnamese Cold Brew is one of the best.

  • Half-Light Coffee Roasters Jaipur

Half-Light Coffee Roasters is a recent entrant to specialize in single-origin coffee. The owners have been in the wholesale business of supplying coffee for quite some time now, and opening an outlet represents a logical progression.

Half-Light Coffee Roasters

Having been to Half-Light Coffee Roasters a couple of times, I have enjoyed a consistent experience. The cafe uses quality ingredients, and it shows in its popularity. The cafe is almost always buzzing. Many coffee lovers in Jaipur feel Half-Life Coffee Roasters serves the best coffee in Jaipur and not Curious Life Coffee Roasters. I think this is a personal choice. On the other hand, finding a parking space in the vicinity on some days is difficult. The cafe has moved to a new location in the vicinity and the pictures of Half-Life Coffee Roasters in this post are of the old location.

  • Rustic By OTH

I have already written a full post on Rustic by OTH. Read What makes Rustic By OTH the most promising new cafe in Jaipur?

Rustic By OTH

Rustic By OTH cannot be compared with Curious Life Coffee Roasters because it offers a lot more. It is a full-service cafe and not merely a coffee shop. However, the placement on the ground floor does hint at offering more than a cafe experience.

best place to have coffee in jaipur rustic by oth

Rustic by OTH offers the specialty coffee brand DEVI, as its USP.  I have been disappointed with their Turkish coffee though. South Indian Filter Coffee was just an average experience. However, the rest of the things have been good. What I typically enjoyed is the fact they offer more value by way of quantity. Another plus is the vast assortment of food that one can order which other café don’t offer. I never encountered any problem as far as finding a table was concerned. Rustic is one of the best cafes in Malviya Nagar, Jaipur.

  • Sutra Coffee Jaipur

Sutra is one of the most recent additions to the list of the best coffee cafe in Jaipur. Sutra is a venture of Dushyant Singh, the owner of OTH and Rustic by OTH. This is a reason why one is served coffee with Sutra-branded mugs in OTH. The concept of specialty coffee outlets started with Curious Life Coffee Roasters in 2015. Over the last six years, many contemporary players have come up. Curious Coffee and Half-Light Coffee still command a loyal following. Sutra is trying to break this duopoly. And they are working quite hard. The best Cortado coffee in Jaipur can be relished at Sutra Coffee. There aren’t many cafes in Jaipur offering Cortado.

This is what Sutra mentions on its website. “Sutra means ‘thread’. The thread that connects stories and storytellers. We equate ‘Sutra’ with ‘togetherness’ because you cherish eternal memories over a cup of coffee with your loved ones.”

If you are serious about your coffee, Sutra Coffee addition offers coffee courses including a Barista course in Jaipur apart from a home brewing course. I can definitely recommend Sutra Coffee as the best coffee cafe in C-Scheme in Jaipur.

  • The Little Coffee Shop

The little coffee shop is one of the hidden gems of Jaipur for coffee lovers. Very few locals have heard of this small cute Jaipur coffee shop.

best-black-brew-little-coffee-shop-jaipur

It is tucked in a narrow lane called Chameliwala Market on MI Road. In the 1980s and 90s, this market was a backpacker haven. There were many low-cost lodging options for foreign travelers. With abundant hostels spread all over Jaipur now, all that has changed. It’s a well-known place for silver jewelry manufacturers, wholesalers, and exporters. The Little Coffee Shop is a venture of one such exporter.

Even though it is a small coffee shop, they accomplish their job very well. If you are seeking a “hidden place in Jaipur” or “secret places in Jaipur” The Little Coffee Shop is a good place to visit.

  • Roastery Coffee House Jaipur

Roastery Coffee chain from Hyderabad is the newest addition to the best coffee place in Jaipur. Located in C-Scheme, it is always buzzing and packed. Apart from Jaipur, they also have a presence in Kolkata and Lucknow. There are many people who associate Roastery with good coffee, especially in Hyderabad. I feel Roastery needs to tweak its menu to provide options; for example, they don’t serve Cortado which is now becoming popular. One of the most unique and popular offerings of Roastery Coffee in Jaipur is Cranberry coffee, very popular with its female customers.

The most unique elements of this cafe are that it is situated in an old mansion and it has a stepwell.

Which place serves the best coffee in Jaipur?

My preferred cafe for coffee is Coffee Sutra. I love their coffee, ambiance, hospitality, and the vibe of the place. I love its interiors and seating space. I also enjoy the coffee from Half-Life Coffee Roasters.

Rustic By OTH is the sole cafe offering specialty coffee in the Malviya Nagar area. Even though Costa Coffee is present in World Trade Park, I wouldn’t put it on par with the ones listed above.

  1. Arv, I believe these increasing Coffee Cafes in Jaipur are showing the changing wind of culture and taste of Jaipurites.

People of Bangalore don’t comprise their filter coffee with anything, so except CCD… nothing else like Chai Point gained popularity here.

    1. Deeksha, I understand how people are picky about coffee in Bangalore. Unfortunately, we don’t get a good filter coffee here in Jaipur. Or rather I should say that it is hardly available. So the cravings can be satiated only when I visit Bangalore or Chennai. I don’t think a person who loves filter coffee will like cappucchino or something similar. It is no mtach! Do you have any preference when it comes to coffee in Bangalore?

      1. Arv, I am a filter coffee lover! In Bangalore we don’t need to go for any cafe for filter coffee. My nearby eatery joint serves very good filter coffee, and that’s how it works in Bangalore. For filter coffee people hardly go to any Cafe.
And personally for me, a few of my neighboring friends prepare the best filter coffee!! So we actually never go out for coffee.

      2. Great. It’s quite like having samosas are good at almost everywhere in Jaipur!
Even among filter coffee the one in TN tends to be stronger and sweeter. Have you noticed?

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Tea, coffee and sweets are on a more sweeter note here also.
Whenever you are planning to come here, we will definitely be in touch, I will take you for best garam – garam samosa and jalebi here also. You will be surprised that nowadays ghevar can be seen at so many sweet shops with all varieties !!!

      4. Thanks for the kind gesture. I suppose there are some good shops in Chickpet and Gandhi Nagar. I was surprised to find Falahaar in Kormangala. Cool! So are you treating yourself with Ghevar, today being Teej?

      5. Every year north Indian population is increasing in Bangalore, so now almost everything is available here.
Oh yes! I am treating myself well with Bandhej and Ghevar 😁
Wishing you too a very happy Teej festival!!

      6. Thanks. I know how multicultural Bangalore has become assimilating people from all over. Twenty years ago, Kannadigas and Tamil were dominant but that’s all past. Are you active on soicial media? Let’s connect through SM.

  2. Arv, this is a good review of Coffee Cafes in your city. I am personally more inclined to the good quality filter coffee and have not experimented much on the coffee cafe outlets serving various other blends.

    1. Sarmistha, I also feel that nothing beats filter coffee. Unfortunately, we don’t get good filter coffee here in this part of the world. I’m left with noc choice but enjoy it in the South India, whenever that happens. I suppose you get good filter coffee easily in Pune!

  3. I was pleasantly surprised to read how Jaipur has taken to coffee and the number of popular cafes that have come up. Having lived in Rajasthan for many years, I can see how this is a huge leap from the majorly only tea scene!

    1. Don’t get me wrong here, Rajasthan and for that matter even Jaipur is still a tea drinking place. Coffee is popular among youngsters. Yet, the city has come a long way. When did you last visit Jaipur, Joy? And where were you based during your Rajasthan stay?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. The last I visited Rajasthan (Jodhpur) was in 2012. I haven’t been to Jaipur for over two decades! Yes, I do know that tea will always be, statistically, the more favored beverage. But it’s nice to know that coffee is finding a place too. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Two decades is long time. You will find that city has changed dramatically.
I guess the reason why tea is popular is because of long association with our culture. We have been drinking tea for last maybe 150-200 years. Thanks to Brits!
        What’s your pick?

      3. I used to be a coffee aficionado through my teens and twenties… when I discovered I had become addicted to it, I stopped. Switched to tea 😀Now coffee is a treat that I have on occasion if I’m in the mood to indulge myself!

    1. I have heard that Vietnamese coffee is great. I’m looking forward to visiting Hoi An and Halong Bay. Thanks for sugesting and bringing to my notice. You have a beautiful blog! Super pictures, Len!

  4. I like the ambiance of the Cafes. They would be a great place to sit and work. I am sure Jaipur has CCD and Starbucks and the other chains. I am curious to know do localites prefer the coffee chains or the local ones. I am a tea drinker and I love North India for the creamy masala tea that they serve. I remember I had milk and jalebi at a roadside stall and it was mind-blowing. The same stall also served masala chai and it was equally good. I love filter coffee but not the one that you get in Starbucks 🙂

  5. Coffee culture is spreading its wings all over now! I just like the fragrance, not much of a coffee fan though lattes and cappuccinos here are good. 🙂 Brewed tea remains my favorite though US is obsessed with Starbucks coffee…one glass can keep you awake for full night!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I know how people are hooked to coffee in the US. I somehow never liked Starbucks even though I have been experienced it in other countries too. Not that its not good but to me it represents standardised industrial product like MacDonald’s.
By the way, Chai has become quite popular in Europe and I found a couple of Chai bars there. US has never been a tea drinking country except for the flavoured ones. I suppose you love tea or chai as we call it.

  6. I have read a book about Starbucks where the author also writes about tea countries embracing the coffee culture with enthusiasm – England and Japan. Is it like this in India too? Is Starbucks popular? (I love coffee, but not Starbucks :))

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Marina, only South India has strong coffee drinking culture. But they drink filter coffee prepared differently. The cafe mentioned are popular among young generation but when seen in totality, tea still wins. Starbucks is present in few cities but not yet popular. One of the reasons is it is quite expensive. Cafe Coffee Day, an Indian coffee chain is very popular as it has many outlets. Have you ever heard of filter cofffee that South India drinks?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Marina, I agree. India is not strongly associated with coffee. It is largely a tea drinking country. Thanks to the British colonial rule.
We produce coffee in South India. So coffee is popular among masses in South India.
I suppose coffee is defacto beverage among Norwegians?

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Interesting! I think now I remember seeing some Indian coffee beans… Because often there are other, more common beans from places like Africa or South America.
Yepp, Norwegians depend on the coffee, filtered one, best black, several cups a day. Though espresso culture has made itself quite popular here, especially the caffe latte))

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Probably, Indian coffee beans will classify as “exotic”. We don’t grow coffee in huge quantity like tea which is popular the world over. Coffee beans in India came from Ethiopia. So what rules in Norway? the chain coffee shops like Starbucks or independent cafes like the rest of Europe, Marina?

        Liked by 1 person

  7. Looks like the coffee scene in the city is getting bigger. The indoor part of Half-Light Coffee Roasters looks very homely. Don’t we love coffee shops that have books and games on their shelves and mantelpieces?!

Even if you like your cappuccino and mocha, you still need your authentic filter coffee once in a while, no? 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Certainly, it is, Dee.
I agree it looks homely not just books and games, the entire feel of the place. I think the reason why we enjoy filter coffee is because we feel at home! We never grew up drinking mocha or latte! Filter coffee? that’s a different case. Isn’t it so?
Do you easily get your dose of filter coffee in your town or you make one at home?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Dee!

  8. Quite a detailed list that is! True to your style of writing. All of them look quite exotic to me, except maybe Blue Tokai. Curious Life Coffee Roasters looks the most inviting. I like the ambiance of Half-Light Coffee Roasters too.

    1. Thanks, Neel for sharing your thoghts.
I’m sure your city has many such cafe’s. Luckily, the chain cafe’s never dominated the coffee scene here. So, CCD, Barista, starbucks never made it.

      1. In fact, I had just stopped short of writing that even Bangalore doesn’t have many interesting coffee joints. Perhaps I don’t go out much. But I really haven’t seen interesting places in and around.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I really can’t say much for the cafe’s in Bangalore. I Haven’t explored much. But Bangalore does have thriving restaurant/pubs/club scene. Koramangla and Indra Nagar has some of the coolest places to explore.

        Liked by 1 person

  9. Wow! Thats a nice line up …… and you have given sufficient details to let us decide where to head.

I used to be high on coffee once upon a time …. gulping cups and cups. Slowed down so much that a smallest size cafe cup too is now too much 😀

I have memories with Barista (one of the initial coffee cafe chain); followed by CCD (I like it still); Costa Coffee (where I have had numerous breakfast in office when single); Mocha Cafe (good menu and awesome food) and many more. Though I love the ones that are cosy, quieter (not easy to find) and not the regular kind…..

For me the food menu/taste is important for a revisit. I am fond of filter coffee and the cappuccino which these cafe provide ….. another favorite was this hot-cold coffee with orange & coffee liqueur poured over a dollop of vanilla ice-cream. I have forgotten its name (from CCD, it was removed as not popular I think….. and I miss it)

In the end, there is nothing like a strong beaten coffee at home 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Monika, we all have memories of Barista and CCD because these chains paved way for coffee culture. Personally, there isn’t much to write about since they were purely transaction oriented places with no unique aspect.
I agree taste & quality is important. At the same time, if there are more than one cafe offering good coffee, location and ambiance are decisive factors.
I remember CCD outlets used to sell Aztec coffee having beans sourced from S. America which was mostly unavailable and same for the Arctic blast. I never liked much of CCD because they lacked character and charm.
Hand beaten coffee? It is also available at few places in Jaipur. Let me know whenever you are here, will suggest you such places.
I suppose you still have coffee at home?

  10. The more I read your blog about Jaipur, the more I get to know of the place that is embracing contemporary culture more and more. These cafes here all look so cozy and each one seem to have a unique ambience. Your favourite Curious Life Coffee Roasters seems to have quite a detailed menu, and quite a few coffee making methods it claims it can do 😀 A café with ample seating space is also my preference – the last thing I want when savouring a nice drink is being cramped and surrounded by people talking loudly in my ear.

Here in Australia we do get many cafes like these, and many students and freelancers are fond of working here all day with a cup of coffee or more. It’s something I never understood – I never feel very comfortable working away on my laptop in public.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. You are right, Jaipur is witnessing springing of a lot more contemporary cafes. Even here in many cafe’s people work on their laptops. I feel the same way you do. But I have many friends who are comfortable working in such atmosphere. I’m sure Australia has many cool cafe’s. Do you also have quirky cafe’s?
