Best Breakfast Places In Jaipur | Complete Guide

There are many people looking for the best breakfast places in Jaipur. Until a couple of years ago, the concept of having breakfast outside one’s home in Jaipur was alien. Things changed when Tapri Central started offering breakfast in Jaipur. It caught on among the morning walkers in Central Park, and Tapri located nearby surely helped. People seek a change from their routine or sometimes want to celebrate memorable occasions over breakfast. On the other hand, many travelers are seeking street breakfast places in Jaipur rather than mundane hotel breakfasts. There has been a significant rise in travelers seeking local breakfast places in Jaipur’s old city. The reason why many people search for the best breakfast in Jaipur.

I was surprised to find many websites listing breakfast spots in Jaipur like Prem Paan Bhandar or Saras Milk Jalebi. It clearly shows that people listing such places on websites have never been to any of those places. Quite a few places listed on such websites are not operational during breakfast hours. These days anyone can create content sitting in any part of the world with access to the internet without any sensibilities or brains. Unfortunately, people searching for breakfast places in Jaipur suffer because of such poor content. They are disappointed on visiting these recommended Jaipur breakfast places.

Best Breakfast in Jaipur | Where To Go?

If you are wondering where to have breakfast in Jaipur, continue reading this blog. The breakfast scene in Jaipur is different from other cities like Kolkatta with places like the Kona Dukaan near the Kolkatta Stock Exchange. Each city has its own offerings. Here are a few options for those looking for a good breakfast in Jaipur.

Tapri Central

Tapri Central is one of the most popular places for breakfast in Jaipur. Even though Jaipur has Half Light Coffee and Curious Life Coffee Roasters, they lack authentic Indian food. Tapri offers Poha, Chana Tadka Maggi, Daal Pakwaan, Tofu Bhurji, Sprout Chaat, and an assortment of Chai that these cafes don’t. Aloo Parantha remains the preferred choice among Indians over the Cole Slaw sandwich. The flip side? Tapri is one of the most expensive breakfast places in Jaipur in terms of value. The view does cost money! Here is another perspective! Travelers from Delhi or Mumbai don’t find Tapri to be expensive. Rather they feel it is quite affordable in comparison to the food outlets in their own cities. Read: Famous Chai Places in Jaipur

Tea Affair

Tea Affair is a new place in the C Scheme offering a breakfast menu. Nothing exceptional in terms of its offerings, however, the location is convenient; and not far from Central Park. The prices are affordable and in line with its competitors. Sandwiches and a variety of Maggi are some of the customary things to try at Tea Affair.

Samraat

Until a decade ago, Samraat was best known for its Dal Kachori and Jalebi. However, Samraat is one of the most popular options for street breakfast places in Jaipur. It is best classified as a street food place or cheap breakfast place in Jaipur; there isn’t much place to sit and enjoy breakfast so people eat on the sidewalk. The most sought-after among the patrons of Samraat are Dal Kachori, Pyaaz Kachori, Jalebi, Mirchi Bada, Khaman Dhokla, and Chai, or tea. Samraat though offers much more. The reason for its popularity is affordable prices and the availability of many cheap streetside food vendors in the vicinity like the Poha seller. On weekends, Samraat witnesses a tremendous rush. Make a note that it does get chaotic between 7.30 and 9.30 am on weekends. Samraat might not appeal to some people because it is essentially a roadside “arrangement”. For this very reason, when one finds a large number of cars lined up near Samraat, it gets converted into a kind of “drive-in” breakfast place. Read: What’s in for breakfast?

Curious Life Coffee Roasters

Curious Life Coffee Roasters is well known for its coffee, and I have already written about it in a separate post-Curious Life Coffee Roasters as well as in the best coffee places in Jaipur. Omelettes, boiled eggs, salads, quinoa, porridge, muesli, and sandwiches remain popular breakfast offerings. Read the in-depth post Curious Coffee Roasters – The best place for coffee in Jaipur? People looking for an English breakfast in Jaipur will find Curious Life Coffee Roasters a good option.

Indian Coffee House

The Indian Coffee House on MI Road has its own set of patrons. Many people consider Indian Coffee House to be a good breakfast restaurant in Jaipur. Probably for its old-world charm. The setting looks straight out of the 1960s. Indian coffee houses are popular for South Indian food and coffee. In my opinion, there is nothing worth writing about in terms of the food taste and quality. People like it for its economical prices. The history of the Indian Coffee House in Jaipur on MI Road is not clearly indicated; some sources mention that it first started in 1962 in Jaipur. I think that period is indicative. I recommend this place only to those who are enamoured by old-world charm or nostalgia. A visit to the Indian Coffee House at MI Road transports you back by at least half a century. The furniture, décor, upkeep, and menu are its conduit. Before I forget, even the waiters carry the attitude from that period. The history of the Indian Coffee House in India mentioned on the websites is not aligned and differs from one site to another. If you are hunting for cheap breakfast places in Jaipur, the Indian Coffee House at MI Road might fit perfectly.

A new outlet opened much later at Jawahar Kala Kendra on JLN Marg. Indian Coffee House at Jawahar Kala Kendra is a popular place among creative souls, and artists in the sphere of theatre, dance, and dramatics and it is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Here is a picture of Jawahar Kala Kendra.

Tapri Ashram

Tapri Ashram is the newest Tapri outlet in Jaipur among all, even though it has been more than four years since it started its operations in Jaipur. It is located near the airport in Jaipur Marriott. Many people consider Tapri Ashram as the best breakfast place near Jaipur airport. The menu is similar to the one served at Tapri Central.

Kanha

Kanha is Jaipur’s version of Bikanerwala or Haldiram. It offers affordable, quick-serve food. Quality standards are maintained. Among the popular items one can try at Kahna are Aaloo Puri and Chola Bhatura. The only thing missing is the ambiance. On the positive side, there are a couple of Kanha outlets spread all across the city. If someone is seeking a cheap breakfast place in Jaipur, Kanha is a good option.

The Annapurnam Restaurant

Annapurnam is a new South Indian food restaurant in Jaipur. It serves authentic Karnataka-style South Indian cuisine, one of its kind in Jaipur. The food quality and taste are the best among all South Indian food places in the city. It is located near Ahinsa Circle in C-Scheme on Ashok Marg. This famous South Indian restaurant in Jaipur starts serving breakfast at 7.30 AM. Among the things to try are Dosa, Idli, Khara Bhaat, Kesri Bhat, South Indian filter coffee, and mini South Indian Thali. Over the years, South Indian food has gained prominence as a preferred breakfast choice in Jaipur.

Arya Niwas Hotel Chitra Cafe

Chitra Cafe restaurant at Arya Niwas Hotel is a hidden gem; it is not very popular among locals for breakfast in Jaipur but is a preferred breakfast place for the select few. So why am I even listing it here, then? There are a handful of unique selling propositions at Chitra Cafe in Arya Niwas: food akin to homemade, open space, verandah sit-outs as well as garden sit-out options in an old bungalow, and affordable prices. These are hard-to-beat options. The owners of Arya Niwas Hotel personally administer the operations of the restaurant to ensure quality. To be honest, I can hardly suggest any other alternative to the restaurant at Arya Niwas Hotel. While it is not really a cheap breakfast place in Jaipur, it is certainly an affordable one. Chitra Cafe at Arya Niwas is the best Jaipur breakfast place with kids as it has ample open space with a garden.

This is not an exhaustive list of breakfast places in Jaipur; there are many more places. I have listed a few popular ones. Over here are a few more breakfast places you can try. Caveat – I have personally never been to these places for breakfast.

Cafe Bae

I have already written about Cafe Bae in my post – Best Cafe, restaurants, and lounges in Jaipur. It was a de-facto place for people seeking breakfast buffets in Jaipur. The buffet price is very competitive given its spread – Rs. 599+tax. The prices are not updated.

Stepout Cafe

Stepout Cafe is located close to Central Park and has been promoting its breakfast offering for the last year or so. I have been to Setpout Cafe but never for breakfast. The cafe now also has a hostel facility for travelers, which might explain the reason for its new forays.

LMB Sweets

LMB continues to enjoy the patronage of many regular travelers, especially those from Delhi NCR. I don’t recommend LMB based on my experiences as well as many other local residents. In my opinion, they continue to churn out overpriced food which tastes “dud”.

I always recommend foodies to instead try the small food shops at the entrance of Ghee Walon Ka Rasta; you can find it opposite LMB Hotel in Johari Bazaar. Nothing fancy or elaborate, but whatever they sell is good value, unlike LMB Hotel. However, it will be a roadside experience.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samosa

Lalaram’s

Lalaram’s recently moved their outlet from C-Scheme to MI Road, near Niros near Panch Batti, opposite Lassiwala. It is a good option for breakfast in Jaipur and a worthy alternative to LMB Sweets offering almost the same items that LMB offers; it might not be a perfect replacement, though. Lalaram’s serves North Indian breakfast options like Poha, Parantha,Samosa, and Kachori, to name a few. While certainly not a cheap place, it is quite affordable; Lalaram’s is the perfect place if you are searching for the best breakfast restaurant in Jaipur. Update 2022: Lalaram’s has closed its outlet at both locations

  1. I must admit that we are big fans of eating out for breakfast. At the start of the day it is good to have someone else do all the work. Always good to have a good list of breakfast spots in new cities. I will keep this one for a future visit to Jaipur.

  2. I do not like to go out for breakfast usually. However, in India, this is different. I just love Indian food and there are so many vegetarian specialities I want to try, that I have to start early in the morning and eat my way through the day!

  3. My favourite meal of the day is breakfast, so I’m always keen to learn about the recommended places to try when travelling. Your list is a great selection to choose from, and I’m sure the coffee shops would be just perfect to start your day of sightseeing in Jaipur.

    1. I’m sure you will like all these places. I would recommend you to try “Chai” instead of coffee, at least once. In this part of the world people begin their day with Chai- tea rather than a coffee. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  4. Breakfasting out is surely catching on fast, after eating everything else out. Had the pleasure of eating at Tapri, not sure which one but since it was in a hotel might have been the one in Marriott. It was more like lunch though the items were all snacky.

The Jaipur BF I still drool over is the one we had at LMB more than 30 years back. Kind of a kachori with aloo subzi in a gravy.

    1. You got it right. That one is Tapri Marriott, close to the airport. The one opposite central park is quite popular with the locals due to location and view. Yes it’s all about small bites.

While lmb is still popular, I always suggest trying local places that only prepare and sell one or two things they excel at. You will be amazed and won’t be disappointed.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Where are you based?
